YOUR SAILING FUN AWAITS YOU! LOTS OF BOAT THAT IS LOADED! PLENTY OF RIGGING & EXTRAS! USE AS A LIVEABOARD OR SAIL THE GULF! MUCH MORE INCLUDED!!!!
The 1980 Gulfstar Sailmaster 47 is a center cockpit cruising yacht designed by Vince and Richard Lazzara, built in the U.S. by Gulfstar Yachts. It was one of the early raised-salon sailboats, offering generous headroom, large windows for natural light, and an unusually spacious interior for its time.
With a solid fiberglass hull and balsa-cored deck, the boat measures 47.4 feet overall, with a waterline length of 40.5 feet, a beam of nearly 14 feet, and a shoal draft of 5.5 feet, making it suitable for coastal cruising and island hopping.
The typical layout features a large aft master stateroom with a queen berth and en-suite head, a forward guest cabin, and a spacious main salon with wraparound seating and panoramic views. The U-shaped galley is well-equipped for extended cruising. The black water system has been disconnected and now has 2 composting toilet.
This boat is ketch-rigged, with a sail area just over 800 square feet. It’s powered by a Perkins 6.354 Marine
135 HP diesel engine and often outfitted with additional gear like a diesel generator, watermaker, 2 low-watt solar panels on top of canopy, bow thruster, and windlass.
While the Sailmaster 47 isn’t a high-performance sailor–its sail area/displacement ratio is moderate–it offers comfort, stability, and liveaboard capability. Owners appreciate the boat’s livability, classic lines, and reliability on long coastal or bluewater passages.
Despite Gulfstar’s earlier reputation for inconsistent build quality, the Sailmaster series marked a period of improved craftsmanship and remains a popular choice among cruising couples and liveaboards today.
The Gulfstar was first build in 1978 and was last build in 1981. There were only 79 of these vessel made. Why not own a piece of beautiful history of this ketch?
There are four 12v batteries and a couple under settee glassmat (gel cell) batteries.
The seller has made many upgrades including a still sealed water maker. The capacity is 125 v so it will need a generator to run it. Also upgraded is a dehumidifier that never been used. It just needs the drain hose to run down to the bilge. Included is a Dometic fridge w/ice maker.
Cruising/Max speed-7knots (lugger engine). The owner has sails for everything but no rigging.
